What age did toddler drop all naps?

DD is 15 months and starting to fight nap time massively. Also finding that if she has over an hour that she takes a long time to go to sleep at night (up to 2 hours). Got another baby due when she is 18 months and terrified she will have dropped all her naps by then!! I could really do with the break!

What age did your toddler drop all their naps?

First one about 2
Second one about 13 months

DS is 2 and 8 months and still has a 1.5hr nap about 4 days per week, no nap the other days.

4.3 year old still naps daily
2 year old still naps daily

DD1 at 2. Well she would have happily had a 3 hour nap every day and then gone to bed at 11.

DD2 is 17 months and I’ve found I need to wake her by 1.45 if I want her asleep by 8.

My daughter is nearly 18 months and has about an hour and a half nap a day. She has been fighting it recently but I read that is common around this age and you should still put them in their cot during nap time and leave them for some quiet time... eventually they will have a nap again :)

drumst1ck · 20/12/2020 15:51

@Ilovesweets123 definitely going to fight to keep it for as long as I can! Thanks!

My almost 2 year old naps for 2. 5 hours 4 days a week. No nap the other 3 when at nursery.

DappledThings · 20/12/2020 16:09

DC1 was 3.5 and was happily still having a good hour but went from that to dropping itnentirely really quickly. DC2 isnearly 3 and naps 3-4 days a week but we have to limit it to 40 minutes for it not to affect bedtime.

bigTillyMint · 20/12/2020 16:10

First one, about 4.
Second one about 2.

3 years on the dot. She woke up 3 years and one day old and dropped her 1-1.5 hour lunch time nap. I was so sad not to have those hours (and instead have an increasingly ragged child losing her shit until bedtime).

MadeForThis · 20/12/2020 16:13

Both were around 2.

PhylisPrice · 20/12/2020 16:15

Mine just turned 2 last week and I'm praying for at least another 6 months out of him. Those 2 hours a day are magical 😂

Rtmhwales · 20/12/2020 16:22

2.5 year old still naps daily from 1-4pm and then in bed at 7:30pm. If he fights and misses his nap, he's horrible and I can't cope. 4.5 year old DSS will still nap if we encourage him too.

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 20/12/2020 16:22

Just after she turned 2 - she's now 3 and if she naps for even 5 mins I can't get her to bed before 9pm

hopefulhalf · 20/12/2020 16:33

Dr Christopher Green (of toddler taming) says there comes a point when you have to choose between the lunchtime nap and early bedtime (usually around 2-2.5 IME)

EventOfTheSeason · 20/12/2020 16:59

20 months. She's never been a fan of sleep, I think her longest ever nap was an hour 😴

user1493413286 · 20/12/2020 20:34

Not until a couple of weeks before she turned 3:

Ticklemynickel · 20/12/2020 20:53

The day we broke the news she was getting a baby brother or sister 😭

My toddler has hit several nap bumps but has always come through them and gone back to napping. I’d say don’t panic and give up on naps just yet, persevere. I thought ours had really gone during lockdown in March (age 2.5 yrs) but after a wobbly few weeks, he started napping again. He’s now 3 yrs old and is napping alternate days and I’ll be hanging onto them as long as I can.

whatwouldyoudo85 · 21/12/2020 08:01

My eldest was almost 3 when she dropped her nap completely, we did go through phases before then where she wouldn't nap for 2-3 days running and we thought she'd dropped it but then she'd go back to napping again.

PipsM · 21/12/2020 08:06

My LO is 2 years 6 months and has decided this week to drop his naps while we are self isolating due to me having covid Hmm

I am hoping that once we are back into a normal routine after Christmas he may start napping again as he’s a terror from 5pm at the moment.

Youvegotafriendinme · 21/12/2020 08:21

DS was around 2.9 months but i remember him fighting the lunch time nap for a while around the 18/19 month mark but I stuck with it and he went back to having it
