Where did your baby sleep on the day?

We have a one bedroom flat. We have a crib for the bedroom, but I am trying to workout where baby will sleep in the day. People say Moses baskets don't last long? But then Sleepyheads are reccommended by the Lullaby Trust. Second time mums what did you do?

Do people still use baby chairs? This kind of thing.

Where did your baby sleep on the day?

I have a 2 year old and a 5 week old. I have a bassinet in my living room. Its inbetween the size of a moses basket and a cot. I got mine on amazon for about 60 quid. Its big enough to last 6 months until they go into the cot.

MonkeyBeard · 15/12/2020 20:47

DS initially refused to sleep anywhere but on a person. After that though, he slept in his pram until we managed to convince him the cot was acceptable daytime naps.

Moses basket, on me or pram. It was usually on me, he woke whenever I out him down so I gave up in the end.

dingledongle · 15/12/2020 20:52

In their cot Wink

LunaLoveFood · 15/12/2020 20:55

Moses basket or swing.

serialplanner · 15/12/2020 20:57

I have a Baby Bjorn chair...I didn't think about naps in there.

Moses Basket seem to just get a bad rep for not lasting long but how long do we want them to last🤷🏽‍♀️

Sleepyhead is what most of my friends suggest but the pricetag on it- ouch!

In theory in the detachable bassinet from the pram, but really mostly on me.

We did have a Moses basket but my tiny 6lb girl out grew it in a month.

Pipandmum · 15/12/2020 21:00

Travel cot in living room.

FourPlatinumRings · 15/12/2020 21:01

We use a Moses basket until outgrown and then a travel cot with a bassinet attachment until six months. After that they're in the bedroom for naps.

Phiphi123 · 15/12/2020 21:02

Under a baby gym since the day he was born obviously he doesn’t care about the dangling toys but it’s nice and comfy for him

BoJingle · 15/12/2020 21:02

In the sling. Every nap every day for the first 3 months.

Totally wasn't my intention but that's what the baby decided. It had to be on me so the sling was a better compromise.

@mummabear4321 May I ask the brand? That sounds great! I'm looking to get something like this for the living room as I'm telling myself the next one will go down for naps. Here's hoping!

FourPlatinumRings · 15/12/2020 21:03

If you want a cheap Moses basket that's quite large (my kids were both 90th centile plus, the first took three months to outgrow it, the second two months), ASDA do lovely big ones for about £30. Everything you need comes with it, hand made and sustainably sourced. Ours lasted two babies and I highly recommend them.

Mintjulia · 15/12/2020 21:04

In a sling for the first 8 weeks until he worked out that the umbilical cord had actually been cut Smile

Then upstairs in the cot with the baby monitor on.

Mustardbay · 15/12/2020 21:06

On me until 10 months then in her cot.

PenguinHuddle · 15/12/2020 21:06

Mine napped on me, in the pram carrycot and sometimes in the bouncy chair. I live in small flat so really didn't have space to buy lots of extra things. By time he was 5 months he napped in his cot because he liked having the extra space and carrycot was getting a bit snug.

MummaBear4321 · 15/12/2020 21:06

@BoJingle its called an MiClassic. I dont see it available on amazon anymore but there are many similar ones. I did buy a mattress for it as the one in it wasnt very comfy. I used it every day for about 4 months with my first and my new baby sleeps brilliantly in it. It has mesh around it so you can see right into them. I needed them up and away as we have a dog so its perfect. I will be moving it up and down the stairs soon for night time as DD is very long and is nearly out of the moses basket at 6 weeks. I am glad I got the moses basket from a friend and didnt pay money for one.

rottiemum88 · 15/12/2020 21:13

DS only ever slept on me until he was around 4-5 months old. Or he might drop off in the pram if we went for a walk. I watched a lot of Netflix in those early months Grin

serialplanner · 15/12/2020 21:14

@ZadieZadie a month - okay this is what people mean

Gardeniaofdelights · 15/12/2020 22:13

Mine sleeps in his pram or in someone’s arms.

Survivingmy3yearold · 15/12/2020 22:21

My 7 week old will nap on a poddle pod on a good day and in a sling on a fussy day. We've tried the carry cot from the travel system and the bouncy chair but she hates them, she's awake in seconds but will easily do 3-4 hours on the poddle pod. They do different sizes too

RobynNora · 15/12/2020 22:23

Sleepyhead for us and sometimes his baby bjorn bouncer. We’re in a one-bed too. Not sure either are recommended for longer naps but everyone i know uses them my health visitor said be sure to put his feet at the feet of the sleepyhead. Got the sleepyhead free from Marketplace so worth a look there perhaps. Ours sleeps on his in the night too as he doesn’t like being in the crib.

NeurologicallySpeaking · 15/12/2020 22:26

This- the vast majority want to sleep on you all of the time unless out for a walk in the pram or in a car. By the time they can be separated you can just put them in the crib in your room
PinGwyn · 15/12/2020 22:29

#1 napped in Moses basket until 5/6 months - Cosatto brand seemed longer than most, he was 54cm at birth so not short either! It's been passed on to 6 others who have all used it for atleast 3 months.

#2 would only nap on me or in a Fisher Price swing that we got for £10 on Facebook out of sheer exhausted desperation, I'd have paid £1000 for the relief we felt when we could actually put her down somewhere without screaming.

inquietant · 15/12/2020 22:31

On me or DH
In the sling
In the pram
In the car seat
On a blanket on the floor

Never in the cot Angry it housed clothes
