Tap Water and new born

Hi guys,

I'm panicking as I have rinsed my month old baby's pacifier in tap water and then poured boiling water on it to steralise it. Now I'm worried that the tap water got into the pacifier and DS has drank it. It could have only been a few drops but I have read such awful things about tap water and babies under 6 months. Is this enough water to do any harm to him?

How will I know if I have done any damage to him? Sorry for panicked post.

Are you in U.K.? Tap water in the U.K.
is fine. I would be more worried about the dummy don’t being properly sterilised. Pacifier is an American term and not sure on the quality of water in different places.

Yes we are in the UK. So as long as we sterilised it all should be ok?

Don't worry- UK tap water is clean. He'll probably swallow some when he's splashing in the bath too Smile

Honestly it's not until I read your post I even thought about tap water on dummies. I rinsed DS dummy every time under tap water. Hes currently 6 months, happy and healthy.

Tap water is fine. The reason you have to boil it to add to bottles is to kill the (potentially lethal) bacteria that is sometimes in the formula powder.

In a few weeks time you will be picking it up off floor of the car and giving it a suck yourself to 'clean' it lol
Panic not.
Remember fatigue goes up, anxiety goes up. Having a new born most anxious time if anyone's life. Babies have been surviving in mud huts for centuries.

Mine drinks from an unsterilised breast. Tap water will probably be fine...
