Restart dummy?

My daughter was three in October.
She had been using a dummy mainly at night.
A few weeks ago we introduced the dummy fairy and for over a month she hasnt had her dummies.
The first couple of nights were a bit difficult but we coped.
She still asks about them sometimes.
The last few days I've noticed when she is sleeping she has started sucking on her fingers. Today her index finger but sometimes her thumb.
I really dont want her to get into the habit of sucking her thumb because that is a lot harder to stop.
Do we reintroduce the dummies and then stop when she is older and hope she doesnt start sucking her fingers or what???
We worked really hard to get rid of them and now a bit surprised she has started this.

In your position I'd probably give her the dummy. Thumb sucking is a very difficult habit to break, I know someone who still does it at 35. It's also much worse for their teeth than a dummy. DS is 5 and we only got rid of his dummy a couple of weeks ago, it was very easy and he never even asked for it. He gave it up himself when he was ready. It's completely up to you at the end of the day, but if it were me I'd go with the dummy.
