He is such a sweet, good, laid back baby, and has hardly ever really cried - a few times maybe in his four months.
Thought I was onto a winner with that, but suddenly he has started to shout, really loudly, I mean my ears hurt!!
He does it when he is biting something (teething I guess?) and also when bored and wanting to be picked up. Which is actually rather a lot at the moment.

I don't mind picking him up but the noise is awful, he will just sit there (or lie there) shouting merry hell, seemingly quite happy, and I don't know why.

Is he just testing vocal skills? Does anyone else's do this? I need cotton wool in my ears.

(he also sings, quietly, in tune to his mobile which is much nicer!)

Yep, got me a Shouting Baby as well. Sometimes it's happy, a lot of times he's just frustrated having realised that he still can't walk! Outrageous!

Then there are what dh and I have called the "dolphin noises", whereby he communicates with his alien overlords...

LOL phantom - my ds1 used to talk fluent korean! Lost it as he grew older and learned english, obviously...
