black poo!

DD is 19 months old and yesterday had three nappies with dark green/black poo, quite runny and very smelly, in decreasing amounts (ie, first nappy was full to brim, second one much less, third one almost nothing).
She seems fine: no temperature, eating and sleeping as normal, and doesn't appear ill. Anyone know whether I should be concerned????

has she had this today as well?

My ds has had the runs for 7 days now. At the weekend he did a black poo whivh dp said was actually a very dark green (it looked black to me). My ds is fine in himself. His appetite has decreased and we are waiting for stool sample results to come back tomorrow.

If you dd is still doing these poos tomorrow I would give your gp a ring. But make sure that she is well hydrated in the meantime.

Korky, it sounds very much like an infection. not always symptomatic. If accompanied by symptoms f pain, generally being unwell, it would indicate a gastroenteritis as well as infection. ought to e checked out though. There is a lot of this type of bug around at the moment. I'm sure there was a smiliar thread here sometime this week.

the smelly you describe, is it a really offensive smell much worse than usual poo and diarrhea ? If so, very likely an infection. If you can get sample of it, take it down with you to the GP appointment. IS ther also any mucous in it?

dont be overly concerned at this point though, they can be easily treated
