Moving baby onto size 2 teat

Hi

My little girl is 11 weeks old. She has been bottle fed since birth and is a brilliant feeder.

She has used MAM bottles since birth and has been fine with them she is currently on size 1 teats. She really should be moving onto size 2 teats now but she already guzzles down a bottle in 5-10 mins so I’m thinking if I move her onto the faster flowing she’s just going to make herself sick.

Would you just leave her with size 1 or should she really move onto the next size?

If she's drinking her bottles that fast and isn't falling asleep or getting frustrated, I'd be tempted to leave her fir the time being Smile

I'd just leave her for now. I moved up to size 2 when my DD started getting frustrated that the food wasn't coming fast enough. She's 5 months now and is happy on size 2 still. As long as they're happy on a certain just leave it until they show signs!

My 14mo is on size 1 still. Takes him a while to finish his bottle but helps him settle to sleep.

We use the MAM bottles too and DS is 12 weeks old on Tuesday. We moved him into size 2 this week and increased his feed by an ounce too as he wasn't finishing his bottle in size 1 teats as I think he was getting frustrated and as soon a we moved to size 2 he was draining bottle after bottle and crying for more.
That's just my experience but if you're baby is happy in size 1 then keep her as she is.
As the saying goes 'if it's not broke don't fix I it'

Thanks everyone :). She’s definitely not getting fussy yet and still seems happy so I will leave her just now until she starts showing signs :) x

I found my baby was gulping down the bottle faster on the smaller size teat and when we moved him to teat 2 around 7 weeks old he was actually drinking slower. Personally I would get size 2 and try it, you can always go back to size 1 for now. I only say this because I thought the way he was drinking meant he wasnt ready to go up but then read lots of others with younger babies on size 2 teat and realised after trying it was the opposite and he did need the larger teat.
