Do I self isolate?

So yesterday I was delivering Christmas cards to my neighbours with my 7 week old.

When I got to one neighbours door she opened it so I handed her the card, I then stood back to where the pram was 1/4 of a way down her path. She stayed behind the door. She said she was waiting on Covid test results. She asked me how me and baby was ect. Must of stood there for 5 mins at most. She messaged me this morning saying she’s positive.

I’m now super worried for myself and my newborn. Do we have to isolate?

No, not unless you are contacted by track and trace.

She was stupid opening the door to you if she was waiting on a test result.

If you were definitely 2 metres from her you are unlikely to be at risk. (In secondary schools only those that sit within 2 metres of a positive case are sent home to self isolate....). The risk outside is very low.

However, if you would be happier isolating with your baby it won't do you any harm and will keep you and the baby safe from additional risk.

She hasent got the app so I won’t be contacted.

We where 2 metres apart, only a brief second of me giving her the card that we weren’t.

Test & trace don't use the app like that- they'd call you

Highly unlikely. There might be a bit more of a risk of she had given you the card but you were socially distanced and outside.

No I wouldn't think you need to isolate if you were further than 2m away apart from a split second of handing a card over.

The app is separate from test and trace. Test and trace are actual people who ask who your close contacts were or you can input details online. The app uses phones and bluetooth

No need to isolate.
