Switching Childcare Help

So currently my 3yr old and 1 yr old go to a childminder and a preschool that’s about 15 miles away from where we live and due to traffic etc it’s about 2.5hrs travel time each day. 3yr old only started her preschool in September and 1yr old doesn’t like anyone but me but he’s settled and happily goes into childminder with no tears. OH wants me to move them both to a childminder that’s just round the corner from us who has had 2 spaces become available. The setting is very good and she seems very nice but I’m worried about disrupting the children and moving them. 3yr old would be with 2 other little ones that she would being going to reception class with which I thought was a plus. Help?? Should I move them or put my point strongly over that I worry about the emotional side of the move??

I'd be moving them like a shot. It's much better that they go to a local childminder and preschool surely?

My eldest has been with her since she was 10mths and she is nearly 4 now and i worry about her not finishing a preschool year before reception.
The youngest i worry that he’s just got used to someone and now I’m changing it again and I know there will be tears every day at drop off from him.
As you can tell I’m a worrier lol!

Is there a reason that there childcare is so far away?

I really don't think that they things you mention are really an issue. Yes, they will take sone settling in but children forget things do quickly.

What are you currently planning on doing fir wraparound care and holidays when your DD starts school? Will the new CM be able to do those?

With the pandemic my four year old had to go to a different nursery when nurseries reopened again. He was ok, we were a bit worried at first but he quickly settled in.

I think having less travel would be a huge benefit for both children as well as yourselves!
