In laws at Christmas

We don't have a great relationship with my in laws and they are constantly stepping on our toes as parents. They said we had to tell them what we were getting our son for Christmas so they didn't duplicate. I've told her some stuff but not all. The cat has scratched open a few presents from under the tree and one of them is an outfit from the in laws which we have already bought and wrapped from us for my sons first Christmas. What should we do? They are very over sensitive to anything we say and I'm always the bad guy in their eyes.

'The cat has scratched open a few presents'.

They asked you what you'd bought him, so they didn't get the same thing. You only told them half of it. You then "let the cat scratch open" (lol, by the way) one of their presents and are now upset that they bought the same thing you did.

I'd recommend returning the one you bought and growing up a little bit!

I’d return the one you got. They specifically asked you so not to duplicate! Buy a different outfit

It doesn’t matter if a baby has two of the same outfit. The baby won’t care and no one except you will ever know.
