Hi there,

I am purchasing a high chair for my daughter to start her weaning journey.

It seems the Ikea Antilop is good!

Do I just buy the £12 highchair for this age? As I see a seat shell and covers supporting cushion etc.

Thanks so much!!

We had that one for both of ours. It was great! I never used any accessories with it, although I think I may have occasionally put a small pillow behind their back when very young to prop them up a bit in it. You can get an insert for it, which you might like to get, but we never used one

It's very sturdy, easy to clean, and transports really easily. Highly recommend

Loved ours - best thing is when it got really grimy could just take it apart & shove in the dishwasher!

Now heading towards her 2nd birthday we have got her a Stokke Tripp Trap so she can get in and out herself but I loved the Antilop

I bought the cushion and the cover - don't bother. I never used them and I soon realised that they defeated the whole point of having a highchair you can shove in the dishwasher!

A folded towel (hand towel) is good to just provide a bit of support for a small baby. Easy to wash as well.

Thanks so much all!! So do I not need to buy the seat shell? www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/langur-seat-shell-for-highchair-white-10330811/

I bought the padded cushion thing for DS when he was that age and I think it helped.

No just get the antilop, shove an old cushion behind them if it’s too roomy/they need support

Tootletum · 04/12/2020 23:06

No don't bother. The tray is useful though.

Rainb0wDrops · 04/12/2020 23:09

I found the cushion really useful and the cover could be easily washed.

I found the cushion useful too and was good for taking out to cafes/restaurants too. I'd get the tray too. It's such a good highchair!

That seat shell you’ve linked is for a different highchair. You just need the Antilop which is £12 and then buy the cushion if you want it. I used the cushion with mine while they were still little and took it away later, but it’s optional.

We bought the cushion and 2 covers for DC2. She's 18 months and I've only just removed the cushion for good this afternoon.
Covers wash brilliantly, easy to put on and off.

The only negative thing is I wish I'd bought this high chair for DC1!!

I got the cushion and cover for my 7mo preemie as he's quite small so he needed the extra support. Glad I did as it's worked out great. I'd say cushion only if your baby is quite small. We'll remove it once he's bigger
