Chicco 'next to me' cot advice

Baby is 5 months and sleeps in a Chicco next to me cot with one side down next to our bed. She is currently learning to roll - not quite there yet but twisting lots during sleep and I am awake all night moving her back to the middle of the cot. She usually ends up at a right angle with face pressed against the mesh at the sides of the cot.

She is a big baby! (Wearing 12 month olds clothes). And I'm a bit worried this isn't going to work much longer with the Chicco. In any case I think the Chicco only "meant" to last 6 months although I know people have used longer.

What is a good next step up from the Chicco for anyone who used one? What type of cot or crib do we need? I'd ideally like to not be buying new cots every year so would like something that lasts / can be adapted. A bit worried about having slats due to all her moving and thrashing around. Also feeling nervous about moving her into her own room after Christmas but I guess this is natural!

Any advice on suitable next cots gratefully received! Thank you.

Once mine had outgrown the next 2 me, they went in to an Ikea cot. It was still in our bedroom until baby is 9months-ish.

When DS outgrew his Snuzpod we put him in a cot bed in his room. We didn't have space for a cot in our bedroom but that is also an option if you do. You could even remove the side of the cot and put it next to your bed if you want to continue cosleeping that way.

I am glad we got a cot bed rather than a cot, because it lasts longer, since it's bigger and you can convert it into a toddler bed with the sides off.

Ok thank you. Any tips on the cot bed?

@NameChange30 did your DC move to their own room at 6 months?

Thanks @pinkdragons at the moment I'm nervous about baby in their own room but I know I've still a month to go before it could happen

Both my kids went into a travel cot in our room when they outgrew the next 2 me. They weren’t ready to go into their own rooms (or I wasn’t ready Grin). I just got one from Aldi with mesh sides, and bought a mattress for it from Amazon. Then around 18 months Blush they went into their own rooms in a proper cot with bars on the side.

Sorry but I can't really remember, I was insanely sleep deprived and it was 3 years ago! I think he did yes because I remember going on holiday when he was 6 months old and he was in a different room.. he would start the night in his room and cot bed, and I think I brought him into bed with me during the night (was breastfeeding so it was easier) and then coslept until morning. He was a terrible sleeper so it was the only way I could survive. We did then night wean and sleep train.

Cot beds are pretty much all the same I think! Just pick one you like the look of that's a decent price! We got a Boori Sunshine cot bed that was a good deal and has served us well, good quality.

Tutti bambino Katie cot. Its slightly smaller than a normal cot but still transforms into a cot bed when older
