Nighttime rolling

Hi

We’ve just transitioned our son into his own room and cot. I’m finding he’s rolling into his tummy and then crying as he’s stuck. He hasn’t yet learned how to roll back.

As soon as he cries I roll him back over
Is this safe? Should I be trying to put something in the cot to stop him rolling?

Also he’s been chewing on his cellular blanket as well. He needs his blanket as it is cold (he’s in 2.5 tog sleep bag) but I want him to have both. Is this safe? The cellular blanket has holes of course so he can breathe through if it goes over his head
Any advice appreciated
Thank you

How old is he?

I'd remove the blanket - he doesn't need that as he has the sleeping bag. Add an extra layer under the bag if it's really cold (long sleeved vest under a sleepsuits eg).

Make sure he has lots of time on the floor to practice rolling, during the day, he should pick it up in no time.

Don’t put anything in his cot apart from him.
Put a long sleeved vest under his sleep suit but I really wouldn’t use a blanket either.
