Ebf baby. Was looking after every feed.

I know that it's not unusual for ebf babies to go a while between BM but I thought that this was later (3 months ish)
He is very trumpy.
He lost a lot of weight and we were monitoring wee and poo to check that he was getting some milk. He is still weeing.
Should I be concerned?

My DS stopped pooping every day from 6 weeks. I was told at 6 weeks this is normal for EBF babies. The longest he went was 5 days but it's usually every 2-3 days now at 17 weeks and it's epic!

Thank you @LillyLeaf
I thought that it was later but maybe that accounts for it. I am just a bit anxious after his weight loss and obsessively counting pooey and weey nappies for the first four weeks.

Is he gaining well now?

Bubblebox · 28/11/2020 23:38

He was as of two weeks ago but hasn't been weighed since. We have been discharged from the mw and HV are not running a clinic which is really frustrating.
I was relying on nappies as an indication that all was well.

@Bubblebox my baby went a good few days without pooing - about 5/6 days and the HV told me it's quite normal. Supposedly EBF babies become highly efficient at breastfeeding so there is little waste.

If you're concerned, call the HV line for your area.

Congratulations btw!!

My second DS who was ebf was an infrequent poo-er at this age and very trumpy too. It did improve but cycling his legs seemed to help relieve him.

Dress him in your favourite near white outfit and attempt to leave the house without a spare in the bag

My dc could easily go 12 days. Does his tummy feel hard? It was a bit later but mine had some formula as my milk is slow to come in. Once they were properly ebf this happened. It was up to their ears when it did happen. You do know you can remove short sleeve vests over the shoulders? I didn't...

Bubblebox · 29/11/2020 06:29

Thanks all for the reassurance. We have action!

@MotherPiglet I said that to DH. Grin

@PastMyBestBeforeDate funnily enough DH have him a hottie of formula while I was in the shower earlier so I think that's what has got things going.
It sounds like the lack of poo was down to breast milk being well digested.
