Wattpad Paedophile Ring

Hi all,
Just a warning about Wattpad. My 13 year old has been enjoying using wattpad, writing stories, making new friends etc and it's been great.
Then all of a sudden she became secretive, napping in the day, switching the WiFi on in the night, etc. Alarm bells started ringing so had conversation with her, turns out a Wattpad user Moon_Prime has started sending her private messages and basically grooming her. On one post he was sending her sexually explicit messages, she seemed at a loss as to how to respond.
The deviant had also sent her links to a chat room off of Wattpad. My daughter rapidly deleted a lot of stuff on her tablet when I asked if I could check her other apps and files etc to make sure she easily safe. I think it was his idea as she's been trying to get back in contact with him to Apologise!
I have told her it's not her fault, that he's a very ill deviant and potentially extremely dangerous but he's a nasty little whatnot.
I even confronted him on one of his chats to her and my god he's a filthy peice of work, he blamed my daughter, said he was the one being abused, like he is totally in the right. Looking on his profile he is seriously disturbed, pages of self harm and suicide sympathy and attention seeking, really getting into vulnerable young teens heads etc.
If you have kids using Wattpad look out for him and his cronies, they're a nasty bunch. I reported him to Wattpad and still no reply and guess what he's still active on there.

Shouldn’t you also report to the police?

CatDestroyedMySofa · 25/11/2020 17:06

Yes, not sure which country he is in, could be anywhere. Wattpad should also do so but I don't think they care.

Report to the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF).

That's awful. I had a similar experience when i was her age. When you're that young you just dont realise and its all fun with the attention and all. I hope you get it sorted, the internet can be a terrible place Sad you need to have a proper chat with her, reassure her you are on her side and that she doesn't need to be embarrassed (although it sounds like youve done q good job already) and really explain how wrong the situation is, that she is still only 13

There are international police organisations that deal with online grooming. Try CEOP as well as IWF. And your local police.
