Snuza alarm going off

My little girl is 9 months old and we are still using a Snuza alarm on her at night. She had severe laryngomalacia when she was tiny and it terrified me. She seems to have grown out of this now, and I know the alarms aren't recommended once they are moving around, but I'm too scared to stop using it Blush

About a month ago baby started sleeping flat on her face, much to my horror. The alarm never went off. But for the last week or two, it's gone off most nights. Once I was in her room when it happened, and she definitely hadn't set it off by moving and dislodging it. She was just still, on her tummy. When it goes off it never wakes her, but when I pick her up she groggily wakes and then thinks it's playtime for the next hour or two. She's never a funny colour or takes a big gasp or anything.

I don't know what to think really. I'd understand if she was rolling around and it was coming loose, but that doesn't seem to be the case. She is just flat on her tummy, so why does it suddenly stop detecting her movements? I've got a GP appointment booked but I feel that they're likely to brush it off as the alarm shouldn't really be used now. I'm just so scared that it's actually doing its job and picking up that something isn't right Sad

I suggest you contact Snuza to make sure she has it on properly. I would never in a million years not use an alarm for a baby who had issues breathing - but you might need to find non-nappy ones if your baby’s really thin or pudgy. There are brands given to new parents whose older babies who died from sids by the NHS - maybe ask your HV what these are so you can invest?

I suppose they'll just tell me it's not reliable once the baby is moving around, as their website does say to discontinue use at that point. We never had any issues before.

Good shout on asking the HV for recommendations of other ones, I'll see what she says. Really not happy to have her un-alarmed at the moment.
