Hi all - looking for a town on the South coast to move to and build a family. I like Newquay but need more ideas.

Notes:
Beach good for swimming
Good for kids / teens
Near schools

For teens I would rule out Cornwall. My husband is from there and his family still live that way and he was miserable as a teen. He moved away for uni and never went back. His brother did the same!

You obviously have Bournemouth, Lymington in Dorset. They would be better with teens.

Agree with PP - maybe Plymouth, Exeter, Bournemouth or surrounding areas for teens? Rural Westcountry public transport leaves quite a lot to be desired, which makes it hard for teens to get around independently. They're all beautiful counties, though Smile

Falmouth - plenty of beaches, schools and as there’s a uni more going on for teens than the rest of Cornwall. It has an arty vibe, the high street has lots of little independent shops. Festivals in the summer, like the sea shanty and oyster festival. The con is that it can feel quite bleak when the wind and rain is coming down in winter.

Newquay is technically north coast if you’re Cornish ;)

@Debradoyourecall
Ah yes I meant South of England really.

Im just moving to Bournemouth with a young family with every intention of settling for the long haul. I love it there. Great beaches, university town, fairly good public transport links
