I’m a FTM to a 3 month old boy. He’s a big boy at 16lb. Im exclusively BF. I feel like he doesn’t eat a lot during the day. He doesn’t really cry for food. I tend to offer boob when he wakes from a nap or just tends to get a bit grouchy. He does wet nappies. Sometimes he bats my boob away or pulls his head away which obviously means he isn’t hungry. I’m guessing by his weight he just isn’t as hungry as he used to be? Just want some reassurance really!

How long does he feed for? And how often dies he wake for milk overnight?

NLW91 · 20/11/2020 11:55

Feeds for like 5-7 mins. Overnight could be 3-4 times

Is he gaining weight well? Some babies are really efficient feeders and don’t need long on the breast.

Yeah he’s spot on on his growth chart

If he is gaining weight and producing dirty nappies, it will be that he is an efficient feeder, you might have a high calorific milk content too. My eldest DD was huge, went off the charts at 4 months old, but never fed for long.

Exact same position!!! 3 months and 16lb!! Started doing the same... last week! I think there feeds drop at this stage and there more efficent at getting milk from the breast! That's all the info I can gather! Also noticed he gets a bit distracted and would rather stare at lights or out the window when he is hungry..
I then put the boob away and he ends up wanting it 10 mins later lol...

@KLM19 glad I’m not the only one thinking this! I was also thinking that as he’s a big boy he doesn’t need so many feeds so is easily satisfied on what he gets in half the time. Yeah mine stares everywhere and pulls off or he looks at me and smiles lol.
