Can someone please explain jumpers for babies/toddlers?

Ds got so many for his first birthday, but when do they wear them? A normal day is vest with trousers/coat on top and then a warm coat on top with footmuff when in the pram, or a proper all in one lined puddlesuit if I know he's getting out of the pram.
How cold does it have to be to layer with a jumper too? Or do you just forgo vests?

Sorry vest with trousers and top on top or a sleepsuit on top for lazy days. So he's always in 2 layers and then coat to go out.

I stick a jumper and trousers over the vest on my DD who is 4 months. She doesn't have many jumpers in 0-3 which is where she is size wise still though.

My DD only really wears jumper / card at nursery where I imagine it's a bit more draughty. Or under her pudddlesuit which is quite thin. You know best! You could swap the vest for the jumper if you want him to wear them?

Jumpers with joggers
Jumpers with cords
Jumpers with dungarees
Jumpers with tights

Underneath DS always wore a body suit. He looked so cute in all his gorgeous hand knitted jumpers :)

I used cardigans mostly until recently, DD is now 2. So when a baby I tended to have her in vest, babygro or trousers and top, then a warm cardi, and blankets in the pram. Since she could walk I use warmer jumper or cardi and a coat.

I loved a nice jumper on my son when he was younger.

I used to have a collared vest and then a jumper, i suppose without playgroups, cafes or indoor places being open you are not out and about as much.

But in this weather I have my son in vest, jumper and coat.

I'm the same with coats for babies, I just wouldn't know when to use one, but she is in a jumper at least 50% of the time. I think we all just have different normals when it comes to dressing our children

Lelophants · 20/11/2020 10:42

Ahh so I think there it is in place of a t-shirt. Ok thanks!

My son is always wearing jumpers, especially if it's cold. I will put him in a vest, a top, a jumper and a coat.

Vest, jumper & trousers/leggings. Coat on to go out.
DD doesn't wear vests anymore so wears a jumper with a t-shirt underneath.

Mine wears a cardigan or jumper most days. Never wears a top/ T-shirt, and rarely a coat.

If it’s warm enough indoors it’s a long sleeve vest with sleepsuit or leggings or dungarees. Cardigan added if cooler. Cardigan or jumper added when out in car as coat too bulky. Usually just wears cardigan or jumper in pram also, with hat, scarf added then inside thick footmuff. All in one pram suit if freezing in pram or sling. Coat always seems pointless and never know when you add a T-shirt at this age

Debradoyourecall · 20/11/2020 14:55

My 10 month old wears a jumper most days now since about October.

So she usually has a long sleeved vest or top, plus jumper and leggings. If we go out she wears a coat or all in one waterproof onesie.

She’s out in all weathers at nursery and our house is fairly chilly so I like jumpers but they’re not compulsory :)
