9 month sleep - help!

Our previously decent sleeping 9mo had got so bad at staying asleep in the past couple of weeks. My DH put him down (bottle, cuddle, crib) at 7pm, and he's been awake six times since then. I've just come to bed and brought him in to co sleep with me in the spare bed otherwise no-one is getting any sleep tonight.

We've never sleep trained or anything like it, and don't think we want to - but how can we encourage him to self settle a bit more?

I think he is in the middle of a leap (leap 7) so old that be why?

Someone tell me something encouraging, please. Whilst I kind of enjoy co sleeping, it's not something I want baby to rely on for a good night's sleep.

Thanks, H

We never sleep trained and had rough weeks and nights. Whilst you're in a bad sleeping phase, it's so tough and it's all I then thought about. I remember that he moved into our bed at around 3am and then stayed but again it was a phase and I seem to have forgotten about it.

He was so chill and happy, I could never do cry it out or anything like that. It didn't sit and feel right with him.

He started consistently sleeping through the night at around 14 months and he's the perfect sleeper at 21 months now.

No practical advice apart from that it does get better, he may have learned something new and needs your closeness at the moment more than he might do next week.
