Hi All, Dd is 16 months old and I feel like everyday I'm wading through 3 tantrums minimum which is becoming exhausting ! Thanks to lockdown I can't see my family who lives over 60 miles away and my husband works away for weeks at a time. Before this hasn't been a problem as my mum has graciously stayed over on her days off from work and help me with the LO but Hubby is going away tomorrow and I'm going to be all on my own with the mini one, not going to lie I'm not looking forward to it :(. Please all hit my up with your tips to keep little one occupied and maintain your sanity at the same time! Thank you xxxx

I completely understand where you are coming from. I have a 16 month old and a 2 week old newborn. The days are very very long.
We went on a walk today and my daughter wanted to walk and ended up crying for most of the time 😩
Things you could do to keep your little one entertained that work for my daughter:

  • cut a hole through a container (like a coffee container) and give lollipop sticks... My daughter loves putting them in.
  • read lots of books
-messy play :yoghurt, pasta, rice, jelly
  • playing with whisks and colinders
  • reallyyy long baths
  • make little dens with throws
  • walks
  • give some bottles/ containers and get your little one to try and match the lids
  • aquadoodle from amazon
  • spaghetti through a colinder, this kept my daughter entertained for a good 40 minutes yesterday!!
  • sticker books
  • wash some dishes, give your little one a bowl of water and some plastic plates, help her wash them
I hope some of those ideas are useful!!

Hey @Mumsy89 know this was a couple of days ago but just wanted to say if you go to the chat section there is a thread called “trapped toddler parents of winter 2020/2021 support thread” which has loads of great ideas and support on.
