Movicol

LO has been prescribed movicol for fecal impactation - quite a strong dose that has been started this morning.

I can only get her to take it by mixing it with flavoured juice - I assume this will still work OK?

Also I assume having a day in the house near the loo is a good idea, how fast does it work?

My son has had movicol for years it just softens the stool so we've never had any accidents from it. Usually it takes about a week of him on a high dose to clear blockages. I find massaging his tummy helps too. Once he's cleared out he has a standard dose daily for a few weeks and then we gradually reduce it to 1/2 a packet etc.

And yes in juice is absolutely fine! Fresh orange would certainly help move things along

Juice is fine and it may take 1-2 days to do it's job. So just continue as usual.

Thank you. She had 2 sachets yesterday and had unbelievable gas and a little follow through with it (nothing much tho) Shes to have 4 sachets today, 5 on Saturday, then 8 on Sunday before a follow up on Monday.

Shes been constipated for two weeks this time round, with nothing for 5 days up to yesterday. She's had problems going since she was born and she's over 3 now. Really hoping this helps get on top of it.

Have a look on the ERIC website. It’s really helpful.

The poo nurses video is great at explaining the whole thing.

Thank you. I'll have a look at the sites tonight once LO isn't hanging off my leg lol.

Now on day three, she's had 2 sachets on Thursday, 4 yesterday and so far 4 today - no movement and the gas has stopped too.

Going from what I've read we would've expecting some movement today.
