New newborn - nappies and feeding help

DD is 4 days old. Birth and first couple of days all fine. I’m bf and milk came in yesterday on day 3. I’ve been feeding on demand every 2-3 hrs and she’s alert and seems well.

Problem is that she’s still producing massive meconium poos and not enough wet nappies - had 2 yesterday on day 3, both accompanied by meconium poo. They’re supposed to have 3 wet on day 3. She’s also doing lots of absolutely rank rotten egg farts. She has a bit of jaundice but not overly sleepy and fontanelle not sunken. I’m seeing a lactation consultant in the morning (to check for tongue tie as first baby had one, though don’t think she does) but wondering if I should cancel that and take her to hospital instead? Seeing midwife Tuesday for day 5 heel prick etc. If it’s relevant she was 4.1kg at birth but I’m sure has lost a fair bit now.

My health visitor always said look at the bigger picture - is she well in herself, alert etc and it sounds like she is. Newborn wees are small, and nappies are good, it would be easy to think the nappy is dry when there's a wee in so is it possibly you might have missed a slightly damp one? I would probably just give the ward or the community midwives a ring because you are worried but wouldn't go rushing her to A&E or anything.

Are you using nappies that have a wetness indicator? The Aldi ones do which is useful and I find it much harder to work out if baby has done a wee on the ones that don’t have it! That’s with my 4 month old.

Thanks for responses. Yes the nappies have a colour change line. Lactation consultant today said she had a minor tongue tie which I opted to have cut but that she was latching well. I can hear her swallowing and she’s feeding regularly so don’t understand the lack of nappies. She’s had 2 wees and 1 poo so far today and she should have had 4 wees and 3 poos by now. She seems well in herself. Seeing midwife tomorrow so can ask then but feeling a bit worried and confused tbh.
