real nappy users - would you, could you on a plane?

if it has a washing machine then i would without a doubt unless luggage space was an issue - which never is for me as i travel light (ish). Then again if your going for a relaxing holidaythen relax!

I have done, but always on holiday with lots of family. Think I would be lazy if going on a 'proper' holiday though

I even took mine to my MILs and she has issues with us using her washing machine

On a plane, no. Not enough room in hand luggage and imho, that sort of situation is just what disposables are for (like paper plates at a picnic!). On holiday, it depends on what facilities are available and again, how much space is available in luggage!! If it would be a bother at all to use cloth, then use dispos (eco ones, of course!) and RELAX!

I have used washables on a plane when flying to Spain and staying somewhere with washing machine, but have always used disposables (Nature Babies) when travelling to America as too much packing with washable nappies unfortunately.

We haven't been anywhere exotic - if a washing machine is easy to get to then yes I do take them - if not its disposables (my personal view is that was what dispoables were made for - just they weren't made for every single day). Just don't do what we did on a trip to France - got home - where's the bucket????? - aggghhhh - in a French apartment - luckily only lost three nappies and a wrap (could have been a whole bucket full) but still cost us £40 to replace - won't make that mistake again

bucket? good grief, its true id need to take bucket n everything... if driving, fine, but... methinks dispos for this hol. is only 9 days.

I didn't take a bucket - just a big PUL lined bag (like a swim bag).

Why not use disposables in the day and washables over night (so won't need to take so many)? Also, what about putting your usual liner (if you use them) in the disposable to prevent a skin reaction?

am contemplating taking wooliwrap shorties and night nappies...

have done when washing machine was available, did take a couple of disps to use right o last day as didn't want to take soiled nappies back in suitcase with everything else

Took mine to centerparcs in France and the nice ladies in the laundry washed them for me
(Couches lavables is French for washable nappies btw!)

I would, yes. I've used them on a train no probs! My only issue would be space in luggage, depending how long flight is you could probably get away with taking no more than you would for a day out on board and squeezing the rest into suitcase.
As long as machine is easily available then you shouldn't have any problems while you are there.
No bucket required, use a pul bag or even carrier bags will do!

my dilemma is always what to do at the last nappy change before you leave on the journey - pack a wet nappy in your hand luggage before you've even started, let it fester in the bucket at home for a week or start using paper ones the night before you go?

(I used disposables for our week away last week and it wasn't as bad as I'd feared - they do swell alarmingly though, don't they)

Oooh and they smell really weird and nasty (I had to use them recently as my washing machine broke again)

Actually, it was just the nasty Huggies ones that smelt bad. We normally use Nature Babies when we have to, and these are OK.

I would use disposables the night before - you don't want festering nappies while you are on holiday.

After a lot of trial and error with 3 in washables, we ended up using cloth nappies when away if we were going by car and/or we knew there was an easily available washing machine at the other end. Otherwise you can spend quite a lot of effort hunting for a laundrette and it ends up far less energy-efficient to wash a few nappies and dry them than it would at home where we have a good system.

So I'd use disposables on a plane and not feel bad.

Tip a wise person past on to me:

Landry mesh bag thing inside a waterproof bag (either carrier bag or PUL) then when you get to washing machine just take mesh out and shove in to wash...

Yes, if going to desination with suitable washing faciliy. might use dizzys en-route if longtime and hand lugauge space limited.
Find we do a mix, going to my parents = cloth, going to DHs familiy dizzys coz I think their washing machine would fall over and we have to take travel cot so less room in car.
