DS' school says year 6 they're allowed and he will definitely be doing it - it's about 1km, no major roads etc. In his immediate friendship group, its unlikely any of the others will be allowed to do so. Another local school allows children to walk home alone from year 5, with pre-given parental permission.
Are we the unusual ones who will be allowing it or are DS' friends the unusual ones for not allowing it?
