Hi I have a 4 month old, who has been put on penicillin for tonsillitis, and I believe she is teething aswell any advice for helping her? I've got teething rings / toys. Dont want to keep giving her calpol as shes on antibiotics. Has anyone else had this?

Dont want to keep giving her calpol as shes on antibiotics.

Why? They're not contraindicated. I can recommend Ambesol liquid for teething. Ibuprufen is also good (some say better for teething pain but I havent noticed a big difference between that and calpol).

You can give her pain relief when she's on antibiotics. If you had tonsillitis and had pain you would take pain relief. It's just the same for babies. If you think it's teething as well you can give teething remedies also. I liked the Ashton and parsons teething gel as it has an applicator but everyone is different

Thanks for advise,
Just never thought babies could get tonsillitis at such a young age. Like everything has hit in last few weeks, teething jabs now this!! X

Both my youngest 2 had hideous tonsillitis as babies and both had had them removed by 3 so keep an eye and get antibiotics ASAP if it flares up again. It's left one of them with issues around swallowing at 7yrs old.

Put anbesol liquid on a soft baby toothbrush and they'll put it where it hurts on their gums and chew, the pain killer/numbing agent then gets to the place where it hurts and the chewing will help too.

Use calpol too though, tonsillitis is bloody painful

Thank you for the advise, I never even suspected it to be tonsillitis she was just more drowsy and had a temp. Luckily mother instinct I took her doctors and sent me hospital.
