I'm thinking about setting up a wee wahm business with nappies (not trying to compete with anyone here she adds grovellingly apologetically) but am a bit clueless as to how to go about it.

How do I deal with how much stock to keep in, or do I take pre-orders to start with until things are up and running?

I've got the website sorted as a friend is a web designer, and I can advertise locally for carrying our nappy demonstrations etc, it's just the stock issue that I'm struggling with as obviously i don't want to spend too much money on stock for it not to sell, but equally I don't want to be disappointing potential repeat customers.

I'm not sure how cheeky this is being, but feel free to tell me to fark off and ply my trade elsewhere

TIA

flame, I'm desperately trying to justify buying a berry plush from you....but they don't do a red one do they? DD has a gorgeous party dress that has red roses and a red satin trim that needs a lovely red nappy to go under it!

Me too, i just take pot luck to a degree and stock old favourites such as tots, motherease etc.

I'm a lollipop advisor and so I tend to order when I get an order iyswim, turn around is normally 4/5 days if I get it sent straight to customer.

Would be interested to get any advice on where else to advertise though. Haven't put my site on here cos didn't want to step on anyone's toes.

It's a free world liaghen

do you come up on google searches? i don't even know how you set up a website to get those hits.

do you sell independently of lollipop? I got an application form from babykind, but there was a clause about not selling your own stuff when acting for them....which is fair enough really.

No i don't google, haven't the foggiest idea how to do that!!! Takes me all my time to stock my shop with photos, still haven't prettied it up cos can't make out how to do it, lol

I only stock the nappies that I sell as an advisor, we do tots, motherease, one life, imse, lots others really.
I also sell natural baby toiletries and organic baby clothing, but obviously Lollipop don't sell those so is allowed.

I've set up a website in my role as a Doula and there is some info on how to become "Googleable" but it's all gobbledy gook to me.
Have you got a shop then?

FlameBat · 15/10/2007 23:07

No they don't do red do they (madness I tell you!) There are red wool sugar peas wraps though...

You could go for butter with a red embroidery - could squeeze you into the embroidery orders

IamDaisy · 15/10/2007 23:59

that sounds nice flame, but the dress is white with red roses, so maybe not butter....I like the look of the sugar peas one, but it's very very expensive....

what happened to the fink at the end of your name???

lighen, no shop; it's only a pipe dream at the moment.

I knew I knew your name, I had a look at your doula website the other day...lovely photos

that is another possible thought of mine (training to become a doula), but not sure it's practical with a DH who works away and two small children to look after single handedly.

thanks for the responses xx
