I'm trying to find some good books for my DS, I want to get a few collections and some good bedtime book that will last awhile.

Any recommendations where I can get a verity of books?

I would go to my local independent book shop who would really value my custom

@husbandcallsmepickle normally I would go to a local book shop but the one near me has closed and the next closest one is an hour away and I'm not comfortable travelling that with everything going on atm

Bookshop.org

Just been reading about them. Supporting independent shops, apparently.

Yes, I think bookshop.org have just launched. They are a network of independent bookstores throughout the uk, and the bookstores get more commission through them than they do via hive, apparently.

@BelfastSmile - it sounds like a great idea doesn’t it. I wasn’t sure exactly how it worked. I absolutely want to get out of habit of buying from Amazon as I’d be the first to complain if independents go.

I wonder how to find out which bookshops are particularly struggling, and I can buy from there. Recall a while ago a campaign from one independent who’d sold nothing that day.

if you call an independent book shop they can probably get them sent straight to you. My local one does

OhRosalind · 03/11/2020 10:53

I contacted my local independent shops directly during lockdown via their Facebook pages - they sent a link to their catalogue so I knew what was in stock, then posted me the books.
