DD (22 months) ready for training?

DD2 asked to do a poo today and so I put her on the potty, not expecting much. Had to go and see to DD1 and the next thing DD2 is running in, grinning from ear to ear and she'd done a wee. Over the next hour she did a poo and also a wee on the potty (and with the latter she started mid teeth brushing and then stopped and held until she was on the potty).

She's ready for a potty boot camp isn't she...?

Yes! sieze the opportunity, take a photo, show your neighbours etc. Praise is the best thing. Keep potty to hand and put her on every 1/2 hr to 45 mins for 1st day or 2 but make it fun. When performs praise/sticker etc Brush over accidents never mind etc. Gradually extend the time between go's- she needs to get the sensation of a full bladder and connect that with needing the loo. I did use Gina Ford but watered it down (ha ha) as I found it a bit too prescriptive. Dont use pull ups - they can blur the distinction between pants and nappies and cause confusion in my experience. If she is not getting it after a week give up and try again in a month. Dont make it stressful on yourself or her. Good luck!
