8 month old sleeping face down!

My 8 month old DD has started sleeping completely face down, nose pressed info the cot mattress. It worries me sick. I don't think there's anything I can do about it, because every time I move her she moves straight back. Is it dangerous?

My son likes to sleep like this. He's 10 months now and started doing it from when he could roll over. It scared me at first but there's no way to stop him. I wouldnt worry too much now baby has the ability to move she should be fine :)

Mine did this. It worried me too but same as you every time I moved her she would go back to doing it. When I checked on her I noticed she kept her head very slightly tilted to one side which left a bit of nostril exposed.

She only did it for a short period - doesn't do it anymore.

My son slept like this from about 6 months onwards . It scared the hell out of me too . I would wake up constantly to flip him over only for him to roll back over, face down into his mattress . I gave up moving him as I had no choice and he is 20 months now and perfectly fine ( still sleeps like that )! Once they can roll over themselves it’s perfectly safe for them to sleep like this .

My LB did this on the day he turned 5 months old and had only been rolling for a short while before. I couldn't sleep at night as I was so worried about it. I ended up buying one of those angelcare sensors that let's off an alarm if they stop breathing for 20 seconds. It gave me a bit of peace until he got bigger. Although he outgrew the snuzpod about a week after he started doing this and the sensor would go off in the big cot even when he was fine (think it was because he would move to the other end of the cot where the sensor couldn't pick him up). If the little one can roll and move their head then I would say they will be perfectly fine. Took me a while to realise that though!

Thanks everyone, that's really reassuring Smile
