ARGH, my wraps are leaking...

my Nature Babies wraps are leaking. I don't mean round the legs, they're leaking through the wrap. Is there anything I can do?

Also what have I done wrong with them?

Hmmm - tough one - never used NB ones I'm afraid ... motherease or onelife I'm afraid - sorry nutty!!!xxx

One of the best ways to sort some nappies/wraps out is to wash them through a few times without any detergent.

bobsmum · 15/10/2007 20:05

I have one old style naturebabies wrap and it's just started doing this, but it is 5 years old now so I've just put it down to wear and tear. It can only last a couple of hours before it soaks through the fabric.

nappynuttynormabutty · 15/10/2007 20:05

hmm...maybe I'll give them a cycle without anything in the washer then. I use soapnuts...do you still get a build up with them?

OMG you are a true lentil weaver

When did you buy them nutty? If less than 3 months would call them and ask for them to be tested. If second hand ...

nappynuttynormabutty · 15/10/2007 20:14

Erm not sure when I got them but they weren't second hand. Blimey can't remember when I bought many of my nappies I have so many!!!

I've got a new NB wrap and so far it's OK, but I do have a stuffable lite that I bought second hand, which does this. I put it down to the fact that it was old.

How tight is it? I have a feeling that if PUL is stretched very tight and under pressure from sitting or lying, then the liquid might be forced out.

Washersaurus · 15/10/2007 20:20

I posted with exactly the same problem a couple of months ago. I have tried tumble drying them to reseal them but it hasn't helped at all so have had to stop using them completely - I got fed up with DS having wet trousers.

I will stick to my good old reliable Motherease wraps from now on

nappynuttynormabutty · 15/10/2007 20:29

Don't think they're too tight. They seem to do it even when on the larger setting ifyswim (without the poppers across the middle done up).

Hmm....maybe it's NB then if you've had problems too Washersaurus.

I stopped using Nature Babies for this exact reason, they always leaked for me. Sorry if that's not what you need to hear!

nappynuttynormabutty · 15/10/2007 21:04

hmm...looks like I'll have to spend more of dh's money

wow - ive just spent the last week loving natures babies - . Hope i dont get the sme problem but i would e mail them anyway to see whats going on. They are really helpful people so im sure they will be able to help you guys.

nappynuttynormabutty · 15/10/2007 21:33

I love them too but the last week I've noticed her clothes were a bit whiffy. Then today I picked her up and she was soaked through under the main body of the nappy. When I took her clothes off the wrap was fitting fine and no nappy bits sticking out, so it seems to confirm my suspicions it's started going through the PUL. It's not just one either it's a couple of them...which is why I wondered if I'd done something.

Maybe its the nappies not absorbing - shove the whole lot through 3 times with no detergent and no drying in between xxx

BevB · 15/10/2007 22:14

how old is your dd? maybe she has got to the stage where she is power weeing and needs a bit of a boost? I had this with dd1 even in motherease wraps and found I had to boost the front.

morocco · 15/10/2007 22:52

this even happened to my motherease once but to be fair, i had been soaking them and they were a gazillion years old. i had to chuck them and get new ones, never found a way of replasticising ? them

liahgen · 15/10/2007 23:03

I had my pre loved nature babies used regularly for 5 mnths and lo is just growing out of them. Never had a problem with them leaking at all, very strange.
Sorry that's not at all helpful is it. lol

nappynuttynormabutty · 16/10/2007 10:00

Thanks everyone, will wash the nappies a few times with nothing in the washer and try putting extra boosters in (tho I don't think it's the amount of boosting that's a problem as she went all night in a wool wrap with no problem last night). I'll give anything a go tho.

Why don't you try pull on plastic pants from Boots, or Mothercare.

nappynuttynormabutty · 17/10/2007 15:31

I've got plastic pants too but they don't fit properly round her legs and so I get leaks with them.

How old is your DS/DD? You'll have to boost the nappy. I use terry squares kite folded, and when required, boosted with another one pad folded on top. A bit bulky, but no leaks.
