Baby feeds?

My little girl is 11 weeks old. When it comes to feeding we follow her cues. She sucks her fingers and opens and closes her mouth. We use MAM bottles and have gone from a size 0 to a size 1 teat recently. We were using a size 2 but was too fast for her. When it comes to feeding and shes placed on her back she immediately starts screaming. And wont latch. This usually continues until she falls asleep usually from exhaustion. When shes screaming we take the bottles away and offer her it again in a short while but the minute she sees the bottle she starts crying. Its breaking my heart. We can barely get any food down her. I tried ringing the gp and the health visitor but no appointments due to the coronavirus. I've tried looking in her mouth to see if shes sore and it looks absolutely fine. She's happy and smiley when shes awake but I'm really out of ideas now

what happens if you hold her in a sitting up position instead?

Was she feeding ok with size 0?

blvdbrokendreams · 31/10/2020 13:16

@Harrysmummy246 she wasn't no. She was getting frustrated at the extra slow pace. She was taking an ounce and then falling asleep and then waking up starving. Weve tried sitting her up. She has never liked being sat up to eat. She likes laying down. Shortly after posting this she woke up and took a full 4 ounces no problem out of the bottle. I am already dreading next feeding time

Is she growing/gaining weight? You can try weighing her but is she looking chubby, growing out of clothes, plenty of wet nappies?

blvdbrokendreams · 31/10/2020 13:28

Plenty of wet and dirty nappies. And she seems to be gaining the weight

It can be such a lottery can't it? Only other thing I wondered about was the temperature of the formula, but am sure you've already thought about that

Harrysmummy246 · 31/10/2020 14:25

If she's screaming, why are you thinking she likes to be laid down?

And sometimes babies only want to take a little then go to sleep

Same as sometimes adults only want a snack.

Try feeding from a cup?

It might be she's coming down with a cold so is congested and sucking hurts

blvdbrokendreams · 31/10/2020 14:56

@harrysmummy246 shes always been fed laid down. She has never had a problem before. We have tried sitting her up but she gets even more upset. Once she latches she's fine eating laid down. Its getting her to latch.
