DS hasn’t pooped for four days

DS (6 months old) did his last poop on the morning of the 27th - four days ago! He’s started on solids, but barely swallows much if anything yet. He has gone four days between poops before, but not for several months - he’s usually once every two days, occasionally three. Is there anything I can do?

What were his first solids? Rice and banana are constipating.
Try to cook a ripe pear diced into a small pot with 2 cm of water and let simmer for 20 adding a bit of water if it evaporates. Blend it with the water and leave it quite liquid

If he's formula fed you can put a little (not a lot) extra water in his bottle. Bicycle legs, baths. Not much else I'm afraid, it will just take time.

I agree, pear is a good thing to try. Warm bath, massage his tummy in the correct direction (I can't remember which this us though)

Otherwise, put him in a white outfit, or leave him nappyless on your best carpet...

P foods - peach, prunes, pears as suggested by PP
A satsuma or similar
Make sure you are giving water with meals
If FF a bottle of ready made formula can help

@ImFree2doasiwant love the white outfit suggestion!!!!

newmum234 · 31/10/2020 09:17

@orangejuicer can it be water straighten from the tap or should it be cooled boiled water?

I’ve got a pouch of prune from Ella’s Kitchen - could that be worth a try?

I have been offering water at meals but DS doesn’t get it at all. He just tries to eat the cup then throws it on the floor!

Definitely consider a white outfit (also you or in non Covid times a posh childless friend), a new pram/car seat - car journeys seem to be quite a good trigger.

Prune puree is a good one, you don't necessarily need the entire packet. Ironically just buying the prunes sometimes "helped".

DS has finally gone so all good! Grin

That's great news! It should be cooled boiled water I think. I can't remember if it's 6 months or a year when you can start using tap. I think it's a year.

Tap from 6 months is fine!!
