Food before milk or milk before food?

I've started weaning my DS, who is 6.5 months. I've been offering him food about 30 minutes after his milk, as I thought that was the right way to do it. But I've just read on the NHS website that it should be the other way round!

Start offering them food before their usual milk feed as they might not be interested if they're full, but do not wait until your baby's too hungry.

Is it better to do food first?

I did milk before food until about 8 mo when she started eating really well and milk feeds started to reduce. She still has a cup of milk before breakfast or else she's too hangry! I don't think there's any particular right way to do it though.

I always did food before milk, but this was 25 years ago so taking my advise may not be the best thing 😂

Until they’re 1 they are still getting most of their vitamins etc from their milk, so as important as food is I like to make sure he takes his milk, which he’ll often refuse if he’s had food first as he’s full. He rarely refuses his solids though - loves them!

In the morning I offer milk before food then did food first for the other meals.

My DCs are 6 and 4 now, so I'm probably already completely out of date, but I just gave them a bit of what we were having whenever we ate ourselves if they were awake at the time. Milk was at fairly set times (I bf but to a loose schedule at that age) despite what solids they had or hadn't eaten and when. If they were awake to join us to eat, great. If not it was only the complimentary part of their diet they'd missed and they would likely be awake for the next meal instead.

I think I did about an hour after milk. So they're neither starving nor just eaten. They then naturally dropped milk feeds on their own.

I also did milk first then food an hour or more afterwards
