Bottle feeding issue-silent reflux?

Baby is 8 weeks old and is exclusively FF. Has always drunk well and we were steadily increasing her amounts until about a week ago when she started drinking quite random amounts, but seemed otherwise happy. The last few days however she has been really unsettled, crying a lot and on more feeds than not she is breaking off to cry/strain/spit up. She then seems like she wants more but will spit the teat out or cry. She is already on infacol and brings up wind easily, bowel movement every day.
Please can anyone advise what this might be? I rang the GP but they refused to let me speak to a Dr as apparently a feeding issue is for the 'health visitor or someone' to deal with. Can't get hold of the health visitor as per usual, but will keep trying.

The one thing I would tell all new parents is that this can be completely normal. I had my first in Feb, he went through this and I was so worried. He would take a few gulps then refuse the bottle and screech. I was convinced it was a reflux issue. He was sicky for a while too. GP scared me talking about pyloric stenosis, everyone else told me to use thickeners or anti reflux formula. He refused all of it. Guess what... it passed, eventually. Just a phase.

Is it every feed? How are night feeds when she’s calm and sleepy?

Also, I’d ditch the infacol - we tried that and Colief and it did nothing, so if it’s not helping I wouldn’t bother.

Yeah I did initially think it was just a phase but then it got worse! She's the same at night, she's also doing random sort of yells in her sleep. Maybe just wait it out then do you think? I'll make sure I get a health visitor on the phone tomorrow anyway.

Try pace feeding and sitting her up to have her milk rather than lying back, that could help and did for us. A tell tale sign of remix is an arching back which ours never did (but I still wasn’t convinced) Dr Browns & MAM Anti colic bottles helped massively too.

No harm speaking to the HV, I would anyway just so they’re aware and they might have some other ideas - but don’t worry too much is my point :)

Reflux. Not remix Grin

I’m pretty shocked at your surgery by the way, and I think they’re talking rubbish. CMPA is a “feeding issue” and I’m fairly certain a HV can’t prescribe the required formula for that! I’d call back if you don’t get anywhere with the HV.

Thank you. Have tried feeding her sitting up but she won't have it..hopefully it's a phase that will pass fairly quickly.

My partner has just rung them and they're getting a Dr to call back, the only thing he said differently was 'i think she's got reflux' so clearly if you're willing to offer a self diagnosis they'll give you the time of day Confused

Ridiculous. Good luck - one way or another this too shall pass :)
