Anxious FTM

My usually fairly chilled 4 week old breastfed baby now, cries every time she isn't on the boob. I think she has wind as I've been trying to burp her do bicycle legs etc and if she does fall asleep on the boob within 10 mins of being off she starts screaming again until I put her back on. She also doesn't seem to be able to drift off to slee for long so I think she is overtired.

Is this normal or should I be more concerned she is in pain or something is wrong? Anxious FTMhere!

FTM of a 4 week old as well. I bottle feed but maybe the concept is the same. Have you tried giving her a dummy? My DS was wanting to feed but was actually full, just wanted to suck for comfort, but it would make his wind worse. Dummy has made things a lot better.

Wind issues are unfortunately normal. I have found using both infacol and Colief drops have massively improved the issue for my DS, not getting as many tummy aches from wind (doesn’t get rid of it completely though). Not sure if you can use colief drops when breast feeding as I put them in baby’s bottle, but infacol my help ease your little ones wind.

I keep getting told wind issues will eventually fade once his system is more mature and he is moving around more on his own.

Sounds pretty normal to me. Probably having a growth spurt. She will be building the milk supply. It will settle down by about 3 months old but will probably be feeding frequently until then. Take it easy, enjoy your time together because it passes so quickly. Seasoned mum of 3 here and currently breastfeeding my 5 month old.

Is she crying night and day or is this happening for several hours late afternoon/evening? If it's late afternoon and evening then that was what cluster feeding was like for me. You just have to settle in for a few long evenings and keep her attached to the boob, telly on, snacks to hand. Mine would eventually fall asleep properly after a few hours. It would be bad for a few days and then get easier and then happen again, but got a lot easier after 2 or 3 months

My baby was practically glued to my boobs at that age particularly in the evening. It gets better (then worse again for each growth spurt).
