Anyone's baby been on Nutramigen?

We are having a nightmare getting him to take it, managing around 2oz at a time, he was on aptimal before and taking 5oz.

Suspected cmpa. He's been on it 5 days so would of hoped he'd of started taking it.

Also did your baby sleep okay on it? I've heard it's thinner so they won't sleep through the night 🤷‍♀️

Hoping there's light at the end of the tunnel with this xx

Whether they sleep through or not is nothing to do with the milk and I'd expect if it helps for CMPA, he'll sleep better.

You can thicken with carobel if reflux is a problem.

Made a huge difference to friends' DTs

How old is baby? I understand it does taste revolting but if it's necessary....

Yes, but same as you, I couldn't get him to take it. Hardly surprising as it smells like arse.

I tried for 48 hours after which the GP prescribed Neocate which he devoured. There's a reluctance to prescribe it as it's a very expensive formula but it's completely free from CMP where's in Nutrimigen there's still a trace.

Oh crap, yep, apologies it was neocate for friends' DTs

Still thin though and they needed carobel

Thank you for the replies! I'm going to ring the doctor next week for a review and just mention baby is fine but struggling to get him to take more than 2oz at a time!

He's 7 weeks old :)

You're doing amazing to have got him to take 2oz of it, my son had an ounce, projectile vomited across the room and broke out in rash over his torso.

It's scary dealing with allergies in babies but you will be fine.

Does baby have reflux as one of the symptoms?
If so, 2oz frequently rather than 5oz is much better anyway- little and often is suggested.
A young baby like yours is more likely to accept Nutramigen but it can take a couple weeks to get used to so stick at it for now. We were told we could add a tiny drop of vanilla essence if we really needed to to help with the taste!
Ime a gp won’t change formula again for at least two weeks, but yours might be different so do speak to them sooner if you’re worried baby isn’t getting enough milk obviously :-)

Neocate and carobel here, after a failed week on the vile nutramigen. Definitely phone the doctor and demand a change!

Sunflower2019 · 23/10/2020 09:42

Just an update I called the doctor and he's going to prescribe Neocate!!! Wish me luck!

How are you getting on @Sunflower2019?

Sunflower2019 · 12/11/2020 22:15

@Desmondo2016 neocate and the carobel seem to be working well 🤞🤞 thankfully xx
