Sorry posting on here a lot!

So my LO had his vaccinations yesterday, had three doses of calpol. His temp is 37.8 just now, hovering around 37.5 today, stripped down to his vest. Would u give another dose today? No other symptoms, just hot and fussy but we're getting the odd smile. Having his bottle as usual every 4 hours, wet nappies etc.

At that temp he has to have a Covid test or the whole house has to isolate for 14 days.

If he is fussy then I would give calpol. The general rule is treat the symptoms not the temperature.

Ginfilledcats · 20/10/2020 17:32

I wouldn't get him tested for covid. He's just had his hand, it's incredibly likely it's that. Yeah I'd give another dose and just keep your eye on it.

Xxx

I'd give him a dose if he's fussy.

He doesn’t need a covid test
My baby same age had just her men b vaccination few days ago they said expect a temperature give calpol 3 doses and specifically if the temp is within 6-12 hours after jab it’s def that so not to worry about Covid

LongJohnGlitter · 20/10/2020 18:35

No, not worried about Covid! Temp is up and down on two thermometers. Temperaturew make me nervous in general : (

I wouldn't be concerned about covid if he had vaccs yday. Yes I'd give another dose of Calpol and keep an eye on him.

Who told you that babies don’t need to be tested even if they have temps after vaccines. Yes temperatures are very common but there no way to know for certain that they haven’t got covid. The chances at its covid are obviously potential very low but government guidelines on temperatures of 37.8c and above are very clear.

@Thatwentbadly
Because we need to use our own judgment with things like this. My kids had temps with all vaccines.

OP if I’m doubt I would give calpol if it’s been more than 4 hours since last dose and not
More than 4 in 24 hours.

premiumKale · 20/10/2020 19:45

The nurse who did my baby’s vaccination told me that

Thatwentbadly · 20/10/2020 20:39

@OverTheRainbow88 that’s good. Do you have a list of other situations where it’s fine to ignore government guidelines in and follow our own judgment in relation to covid?

I was told the exact opposite when DD2 has her vaccinations as were other people I know whose children were vaccinated at different practices.

OverTheRainbow88 · 20/10/2020 20:56

No because that’s derailing this thread.

LongJohnGlitter · 20/10/2020 22:18

@OverTheRainbow88 thank you!

And thanks for reassuring about calpol. His temp came down this evening but he's still very unsettled. 2 months seems so young for paracetamol and everything he's been thru over the past 24 hours. He's the most precious little boy xx

There's no need to self isolate if someone has a fever after a vaccination.
