New mum looking for advice

New mum of a 3 month old and struggling with putting her down for periods of time. She was an amazing sleeper from 6 weeks old till a few weeks ago. She was sleeping 8pm - 6.45am with one feed about 4 ish sometimes she would go through till 6am! Has started waking around 2am and 5am and will only nap off of me for 30 minutes and gets fed up of play mat or swinging chair after ten minutes or so! Am I expecting too much? When do they start playing independently and sleeping abit better ? Thanks

They do have sleep regressions every few weeks/months so unfortunately as soon as you get in anything that resembles a routine, it invariably changes! I did find 4 months a bit of a turning point, in that things became a bit more predictable, but it will vary. Playing independently is another matter, and again varies wildly! I found once DS could roll he was happier being left to try and figure out his new skill (I used to put a duvet cover on the floor and keep an eye but let him do his thing and pop toys around to try and encourage him to try and roll!). It sounds like you're doing amazing, it is hard when they're tiny, I would keep doing what you are doing, maybe try some sensory toys.

My baby is 8 months and has become more needy as time has gone on - sorry to break it to you haha. He used to watch baby TV or bounce for ages in his bouncer, but now he can crawl and cruise the furniture he just wants attention and play all the time. Sometimes it’s exhausting but I’m all he knows and wants and I did choose to have him, so Wink
