Toddler being unaffectionate to grandparents

21 month old DD.
We are temporarily living with my in laws due to a house move and renovation.
Toddler suddenly (last couple of weeks) is all about mum and dad, doesn’t want to be kissed/cuddled by grandparents (sometimes practically ignores them).
Also noticed a lot more stranger and separation anxiety recently.

To me and DH, DD is affectionate and engaged, constantly wants us both around.
Grandma is especially hurt cos DD used to light up whenever she walked in a room.
Is this a normal phase?

It is totally normal for children to go through these phases. Just don’t make a big fuss about it and let your DD choose who she wants to kiss and cuddle.

I would think it's definitely a phase, you two can't be this interesting forever!
She's probably going through some separation anxiety linked to the change in circumstances and will settle down either soon or when you all move home.

Of course it is just a phase, linked to the change in circumstances.

Hopefully grandma can realise that she doesn't need to be "hurt" by this totally normal behaviour from a very young child. It doesn't mean her GC doesn't love her.
