Hi all,

My husband and I have a 15month old boy , he is very clingy and still is breastfeeding for comfort. We recently relocated which has made him even more clingy and attached to me. My husband and I have always wanted two children and close in age , my husband also wants both his children before 35. He is hoping to get the dice rolling in the next few months , but understands my concerns. He is willing to wait , however I also feel ready but however have a few concerns and hoping to find advice , someone in a similar situation and what they did to prepare or any advice , all advice will be welcomed.

My concerns are
How will I cope with a clingy toddler , newborn and a dad who works long hours. I also suffered postnatal depression after I had my son, it was my own personal problems that I have now worked through and I'm stronger than I have been in a very long time , but I'm also worried that it may come back , but instead I will have two children to care for. Also how do I get my toddler off the breast before the newborn arrives. He also has been waking through the night lately and a lot , so I also want to nip that in the bum ASAP.

Thanks for reading and please share any advice.

I would say that there is no harm in waiting until you are 100% ready as it sounds like you have some genuine concerns. My little one is 16 months and is going through a clingy stage and still breast feeds and it can be draining at times so I know it can be draining. Also if your husband works long hours you will be dealing with a lot on your own so it’s definitely worth waiting until you are not so worried.
