I have a formula fed 10 week old and I'm feeling a bit lost when it comes to feeding. Until about a week ago he would happily guzzle down 5-6oz per feed. He is a great little sleeper and goes down between 7.30-9.00pm, wakes around 3am-ish for a bottle and then is up around 7.30. He would normally take his bottle as soon as he got up but now he refuses to take it til about an hour or so later and in general he's eating half of what he usually does. Should I be worried? Has this happened to anyone else?
Should I try giving him it as soon as I get him up instead of changing his nappy so he's not properly awake as I've read about the "eat, wake, play" routine.
Thanks for your help!

He’ll probably drop the night feed soon. You could try to offer a bit less in the night so he’s hungry in the morning. Just feed him when he’s hungry

I have 11 week old, BF so slightly different but I have the exact same issue in the mornings. Been trying to follow that wake, eat, play routine but she seems more wake, play, eat! And I'm thinking, but you've gone hours without a feed I know you're hungry!! When you say your son is eating half as much, is he perhaps just snacking because youre feeding his too early/often? Does he hunger cue? Mine does no hunger cues for some reason and jumps right to crying out of nowhere so I'm always just guessing which has made her into quite the snacker Confused hope this helps

So you've basically just summed up my son as well haha! He'll give some cues the odd time but normally he goes from smiley to hysterical in the space of seconds because he's hungry. He generally goes over 3h between feeds so it's thrown me off course. And I think exactly the same as you... How is it possible he's not hungry?!

I guess I'll just go with him instead of trying to fit him into a routine. If he wants to play then play and then eat!

At that 3am feed he takes about 4oz so I'll try reducing it gradually.

Haha yep I've just accepted my fate and have it her way! I don't know much about how it works in honesty but I've wondered if the long morning stretch where they don't eat is because it digests slower at night? Since they are fast aslep and not burning up as much energy in the day? But really, no idea!
