DS2 appears to be potty training! But has scary poo ...

Helpfully, last Sunday, at the start of a crazy week, DS2 decided it was time to start wearing pants. He's just gone 3, and has seemed physically ready for a little while, but refused to wear pants.

He's been doing well, really. He's been doing slow leaks, off and on, but not real puddles. He is proud of peeing in the pot, and goes on his own if we're home.

Pooing is a bit more tricky. His poo is often quite loose (high fibre diet), and although he did manage a poo in the pot yesterday when he was playing naked at home, we've also had at least one poo accident per day. (He seems to have particularly loose poo right now.)

I'm not punishing him for having poo accidents, I am making a big fuss when he gets it right. I realise this is early days, and he's making great progress, but I really hate dealing with poo accidents.

It sounds to me like he's doing really well with his wees! Poohs always harder to master in my opinion!! My DS totally refused to pooh anywhere but his nappy for AGES, so I think you're quite lucky to get him to go on the potty.

Perhaps if you cut down on the fibre a bit, he may feel the need to go for a pooh IYSWIM. Perhaps the fact that his poohs are quite loose means that he can not get to the potty on time before it arrives?!

Hope this helps

I think he's just ignoring it some of the time.

He did leave a puddle on the floor of a hairdressers today (but at least not on the sofa!). And he hadn't even let go entirely, because he went and had a pee on a bush (his first ever!) afterwards.

He is doing very well for his first week toilet training.
