Last evening formula feed help

I've got a 9 week old boy who is formula fed. He has been eating quite poorly for the last week or so, dropping from eating 150ml to 90/100ml but he's gaining weight so it's ok. The problem is the nighttime feed. He often takes just 40 or 50ml so I don't know whether to delay his bedtime although he's dead tired or try to distract him and delay his previous feeds. Him waking at night is not the issue, it's just the fact that he goes down without a proper feed in the evening so I'm not setting him up for a proper night's sleep. It's a stupid problem but it's really getting to me.

Is he maybe too tired to feed? How long since last feed? I'd just put him to bed and he'll wake when he's hungry. Also, have you tried a faster teat?

I would say that he's probably too tired to feed, could you try a little earlier?

9 week olds are not suppose to have a proper nights sleep so just follow his lead.

He is only 9 weeks so he doesn’t need to be set up for a proper nights sleep.
Your baby’s sleep will change many times over the next few months so if he is happy and gaining weight then just go with it and in a couple of weeks things will likely change.

He takes it on a medium flow teat because he eats too fast otherwise and he was really colicky til about 7 weeks. Perhaps he is over tired. I hadn't thought about that since he's half asleep when he takes the a.m feeds. I'll give it a little earlier and see if it makes a difference. Hes a grumpy little bum sometimes so I think it's a case of still learning what he needs and when.

Thanks!!
