"Big kid" clothes??

My DD is almost one, she's at nursery, she's walking and climbing and into everything, hates sitting still, loves being outside... she needs a raincoat/suit (not one of those big fluffy snow suits, something lightweight and easy to move in without getting hot) and shoes that are easy to walk in but stay on and keep the weather out (she just falls over in wellies at the mo)

Problem is, she's miniscule. Plotting her on the red book, she's the size of your average 4mth old baby. She's still in 0-3m clothes most of the time, and i can't find the stuff she needs in her size anywhere!

Id usually just buy it big and wait for her to grow into it, but most of the stuff I've seen is 9-12m smallest, and even when i roll the ankles up the crotch is to her knees and restricts her movements.

I just want to buy her a light rainsuit that fits, and a pair of shoes she can run about in, without remortgaging!

Muddy Puddles have some 0-6 months (though I don't know whether that sizing is accurate). They're not cheap, but I think they're a good brand.

JoJo Maman Bebe, eg

Thank you! The muddle puddles ones looks awesome, exactly what I'm after - might be able to talk my mum into going halves with me for her birthday.

Id seen the Jojo one, it just seemed quite bulky in the picture? She has a similar one from them already that we use for cold days in the baby carrier, but she really struggles to move in it as it's so puffy!

Now all i need is shoes. Are flexi-soled wellies for infants a thing!?

What about bogs? I seem to remember they are good for early walkers so might fit the bill.

@TakeMeToYourLiar those look incredible, thank you! Again, probably going to have to approach the grandparents for assistance but hey, birthday is soon.

Both of mine were very early walkers.
If I had that time again I’d buy these!

What size feet?

Ohalrightthen · 08/10/2020 08:15

@dementedpixie

What size feet?
You know what, i have no idea! Still wearing 0-3month socks! Shall have to print off a chart and measure her up.

The bogs ones may be American sizes just to complicate matters further?

Velvian · 08/10/2020 08:18

Have you looked at Next? Their little girls range starts at 3 months

OrigamiPenguinArmy · 08/10/2020 08:19

Have a look on eBay for a puddle suit rather than spending £££s on a brand new one.

Velvian · 08/10/2020 08:20

This one?

"Big kid" clothes??
AriettyHomily · 08/10/2020 08:22

Is there a reason she's so small?

Dts were tiny bit but that tiny. We had a real problem finding wellies, mother are did the smallest ones and I think they started at a 3.

FatGirlShrinking · 08/10/2020 08:22

M&S have puddlesuits for 0-3 months, worth just double checking that they're waterproof rather than showerproof

@AriettyHomily Is there a reason she's so small?

What a strange thing to say! She has very small parents, who were born to equally small people (as in, there's no men over 5ft5 and no women over 5ft in either families) and she initially struggled with weight gain due to illness and reflux. She perfectly healthy, eats excellently, still breastfed and no doctors have any concerns. She's just little. Babies, like people, come in all sizes. Doesn't mean there's anything wrong with her.

No I didn't say there was but a one year old in 0-3 month clothes is unusual

FelicityPike · 08/10/2020 10:15

I would agree with @AriettyHomily I’m afraid.
Has the HV queried her size?
I would be concerned I’m afraid.

No, the HVs and the GP are all completely unconcerned, she's eating and growing fine, she's just small. Both me and her dad were the same. He still buys 12-13yr old clothes sometimes, wayyyy cheaper. We're just small people.

Agree with this - all DD’s have been second hand, they’re often barely worn at all.

Ohalrightthen · 08/10/2020 10:49

@JeanClaudeVanDammit @OrigamiPenguinArmy such a good call, especially at this age range...

Also, fucking love both of your usernames.

I've seen some very small clothes for children on muddy puddles
Kidly
Alex and Alexa

Also what's bogs I can't find it?

I'm looking for the same as you for my one year old atm but he is standard one year old size

Weird question about the child's size when the OP has asked about clothes not for health advice...

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 08/10/2020 10:57

We got a Buffalo all in one for our dc1 when they were that small. They do a version with feet and gloves built in but also a version with cuffed sleeves and legs for boots. They aren't cheap but we got ours on eBay so it's worth looking for second hand.

Atalune · 08/10/2020 11:02

I would try eBay or local selling sites as people will have similar things from older children.

movingonup20 · 08/10/2020 11:03

Mine had theirs from Columbia - they were both tiny (handed it down), I think it was in age 6-12 month size but a long time ago
