Day time naps for 7 week old

I’m a FTM to a gorgeous 7 week old boy. I’m just wondering should I be scheduling his naps by now? Some days he’s so awake and just doesn’t want to sleep, other days he happily does a feed, drops off for 2 hours and carries on that pattern. I don’t want to force him to sleep if he doesn’t want to. How do I stimulate a day time nap if I have to? Thanks

First of all congrats!

Routines are quite a personal choice - some just go with the flow each day but I am more of a routine kind of person. At that age my boy was on a rough 3 hour routine. Feed, awake time for up to 1.5 hrs then a nap. I can recommend Nanny Louenna on Instagram for some good routines if it’s your thing.

I have no idea how you would go about forcing any child to sleep when they're not tired, so I don't think that will work.

I think at that age it's better to go with how they feel and what they want. I agree with the above poster, i do a max wake time of 1.5 hrs, more time after that and she gets cranky, but if yours seems happy im not too sure, im interested to see what others say

Hi just go with the flow at 7 weeks old he should be sleeping more than awake but if he isn't sleepy leave him be I would wait until he's a little bigger before trying to get him into a routine napping stage maybe 4/5 months.
