Sitting 10 week old up on lap?

Quite often while my baby is awake i sit her up on my lap with my hands under her armpits to hold her up. She's got a very strong neck so she likes to look around and i figured it would help her learn to sit up, she's already trying to lift herself to sit when shes on her baby swing and in the pram so i figured it was helping. But i just read that this can be bad for them? Can't seem to find much but one website says so, that it stops their development and strength in their arms, legs etc. Thoughts?

It depends how often you do it. If she’s constantly being sat up and isn’t doing any tummy / floor time then she could get weaker.

One of the joys of parenting is the endlessly conflicting advice you will encounter. If she is not uncomfortable and she is not in one position for ridiculous lengths of time, it's fine. Some babies like to see what's going on and sitting up on your lap will not harm her as long as she has the neck control not to flop her head forward.
