I am sure this isn't normal. I work full time and have a3.5 year old. Literally every night I am asleep on the sofa as soon as I sit down.

Surely this isn't normal! I just want to have a bit of a life!!

Are you a single parent? I think that's pretty normal if you're carrying the whole load yourself!

Yes us and I'm sorry to say our children are 6 and 8. We both work FT. As soon as they're in bed we collapse..although to be fair that's usually more like 9pm these days.

Such a delightful way to spend an evening!

I was asleep at 8pm on the sofa last night.

Doesn't happen every night but fairly regularly. Have a 6yo DD, DH and I work full time, knackered!

Honestly im seriously considering bed at 8

mindutopia · 02/10/2020 13:53

Can you just go to bed? What is your life like generally? If you are up lots during the night and getting up at 5am, I think it can be pretty normal. But I have to say, even with multiple night wakings, being up at 5am to leave for work, and working 12 hour days, plus 2 dc the only time I was truly that tired was when I was vitamin D deficient. It may be worth checking if you are. But if you aren't getting much sleep, go to bed early and get a week of proper rest and see if you feel better.

I fall asleep regularly between 8&9. I don't have kids (mine are adults) and I'm gainfully unemployed!! With the nights drawing in my body click thinks it's bed time that's all

MrsG2017 · 02/10/2020 18:32

So interesting isn't thank you mindutopia I will check my vitamin d and we've just come out of our winter and here in NZ the sun is so low that apparently it is quite and issue thank you for reminding me.

Thanks everyone I think I just needed some reassurance I'm not the only one.

I'm not a single parent but I do carry most of the load so maybe your right a few nights of proper rest not forcing myself to stay awake may help.

No not me. I'm asleep in my bed.

Begonias · 02/10/2020 18:42

I'm got to bed the same time as my 8yr old!! We're staying up for a movie tonight and I can guarantee I'll call asleep through it

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 02/10/2020 18:45

This is me - teach full time with a three year old. Drop off loads of nights putting her to bed!

piscis · 02/10/2020 18:48

Not at 8pm, but many times at 9pm, nearly impossible to watch something on TV, I only last a few minutes

ParadiseLaundry · 02/10/2020 18:52

I'm usually asleep in bed with the kids at 8pm! But to be fair even before having kids I liked an 8pm bed time (during the week) and to get up early.

Gettingonabitnow · 02/10/2020 19:00

It’s normal - we have two and I go to bed straight after they go down around 8. Yeah it’s not exactly party central but I’ve done my partying pre kids, and I’ll do my socialising when they are older. But for now it’s the only way to not be a zombie! X
