Tips for introducing expressed bottles?

Hi, I'm looking for tips on introducing bottles to my EBF DD. She is 5 weeks, and I want her to have the odd expressed bottle, e.g. so DH can help with night feeds at weekends (MW has said my supply is good so we can start doing this).

DH has attempted to give her a bottle tonight, she is calm & alert and has had a small feed from me first so not starving hungry, but still rooting for 2nd boob. She's taking the bottle but just chewing the teat rather than sucking.

Does anyone who has successfully introduced expressed bottles have any tips? Is it just a case of continuing to offer and eventually she'll learn what to do?

TIA.

I combi fed both my kids. Introduced the bottle around 6 weeks. Dh gave the bottle for Morning feed at last feed before sleep. We didn’t really have any issues tbh. The kids just took to it. We did use expressed milk and also formula.

You guys will be fine just go for it.

You might need to try different test shapes till you find one she likes. Dd was good with Tommee Tippee, Minbie and MAM I think.

Also it’s easier if you’re totally out of the way when your dh is feeding baby, I used to go have a bath (bliss!) when anyone else was feeding Dd, as I’d I was close she’d smell my milk and fret for boobs.
