What does your typical day look like with a 7 month old?

Just that really! How many naps a day? How much awake time in between naps? How many meals a day? What about your LO's bedtimes etc? I need more of a routine I think and I also want to make sure my LG is getting enough sleep throughout the daySmile

Wake at 7am, nap at 9am to 10am. Second nap at 1230 to 230. Dropping third nap about now, but if doesn't do the full two hours at lunch, sometimes a 10 mins power nap around 445

Sorry forgot to say we have 3 meals and breast milk in between . Bedtime 7pm

holliem91 · 01/10/2020 21:37

Great thanks! At the minute our routines looks like this...

Wake up 8.00AM
Milk feed
Play time
(first meal - breakfast)
Nap at 11AM for about 30 mins ish
Wake up 11.30AM
Play time (I get dressed and ready for the day whilst she's playing)
Milk feed
Go out and about for a bit
DD normally naps in the car once out too but sometimes doesn't
If she doesn't nap then she'll nap around 2ish for about 30-45 mins
Come home
Play time
Second meal (dinner) - we're only on two meals a day right now, milk feed at this time too
Play time
Bed at 8.00PM

I just feel like she isn't napping enough during the day, she loves to fight her sleep too and wanted to try and change our routine Smile

That's a lot of awake time for a 7 month old baby.

When DS was 7 months, he had a 2 hour awake window. After that, he'd get really ratty. It didn't matter so much what time or for how long he slept, but he needed that sleep after a two hour awake time. Xx

holliem91 · 01/10/2020 21:50

@TokenGinger yeah exactly what I was thinking! I don't think she's getting anywhere near the amount of sleep she's supposed too during the daySad xx

@holliem91 Does she sleep well at night to catch up? Xx

My day sounds very similar to yours OP, with 7 month old twins. Note my username Grin I kind of noticed they were getting hardly any daytime sleep and were grumpy, so have tried introducing more of a routine.

Unfortunately they will only nap for 30 minutes before waking up, 2 or 3 times per day... This is what I've been attempting:

7am Wake up, milk
Breakfast about an hour after that, then play with DH while I get ready for the day

9:30am Morning nap
11am Milk
12pm Lunch

I then put them down for another nap 2.5-3 hours after they woke from the first, so usually around 1pm. When they wake up from that, I give them another milk then playtime.

Around 5pm I give them some dinner followed by playtime. Milk then bed around 7pm.

As they sleep so little in the day, I've been trying to get them down for a third nap between 3 and 4pm but it's hit and miss whether they'll actually go to sleep. I'm not really sure how to make them sleep more...

Wake anywhere between 5-6
Milk
Around 9 am - breakfast (solids)
Milk
Out in pram for walk, usually naps 1:30 hours
11ish - milk
Playtime
1ish -lunch & milk
Playtime
2ish - Nap for an hour or so
3ish- playtime & milk
5ish - solid dinner (sometimes)
7pm - bath & bed

We do:
Wake up 6.15-6.45
7.30 bottle
8.30 solids
9/9.30 - nap for 1/1.5 hours
11.30 bottle
12.30 solids
Somewhere around 1.30-2.30 afternoon nap of an hour
3.30 bottle
5 - sometimes I give him solids while his older sibling eats but not always
6.45 bath
7 - bottle and asleep by 7.30
My DS was having 30 minute naps but in the last 2-3 weeks that’s started extending to an hour

Dillybear · 02/10/2020 20:55

My DD is 7.5 months, and she won’t sleep until she’s been awake for 3 hours at a minimum, so although your baby’s naps are short the awake windows might be okay. There’s not a chance my DD would go to sleep after two hours anymore! But all babies are different. At the moment it’s looking like:

7.30 wake and milk
8.30 breakfast then playtime
10.30 nap
11.45 wake and milk
12.30 lunch then playtime or sometimes go out during this awake window
2.30 I offer a top up milk feed if she doesn’t eat much lunch, it’s pretty hit or miss now
3pm nap
4-4.30 wake and milk - often go for a walk after this
5.30 dinner
6.45 bedtime milk feed
7pm bath
7.30 bedtime

My baby girl is 7 months, this is her routine. It can change around though, its more a guide I follow. I didnt create the routine she did haha :) she has puffers and rice cakes as snacks randomly and is breastfed on demand, it's hard to add when she has milk

5.00-6.30am wakes up and breastfeeds
7.00- 8.30am nap time, breastfeeds to sleep
8.00- 9.30am wakes
10-11am she has food, usually fortified cereals like a rusk with milk, baby porridge powder, homemade oats with fruits
12-1pm Nap
12.30-1.30pm Wakes and breastfeeds
2-3pm Diner, she usually has a homemade protein filled meal with green lentils, kidney beans or chickpeas like a stew, bolognese, cottage pie filling. She wants breastmilk not long after.
5pm dessert, usually something fruity like a homemade puree with added chia or linseed.

  1. 30pm-6.30pm Bath time (she only has a bath every 1 day, not everyday)
6.30-7.30pm bed time, breastfed to sleep

It's cool to see all the different routines babies have
